Issue Number: -39 — Eight ways you can make money from photography
I'm afraid this is a tough gig, and you already seem to agree on some of those eight options.
Also, a few of them could work on paper but your lack of credentials as a professional photographer would make it difficult to make money from them.
I have just read in your newsletter that you are bringing out a book “Tokyoites: A Portrait of Tokyo Through Its People.” And that will be a great example of how to turn a photography hobby into a side-hustle.
True.... but nothing ventured... nothing gained.
I would go back to the photostock sites if they improved the upload and tagging experience. That is what took all the time.
I have seen a few people make money with "print to order" and with things on Etsy.
The secret is - find what works for you and find something that doesn't increase your workload and stress.
I like using my photos in my blogs and on Substack as I know I won't have the 'copyright' police on my case.
